New CS-04 ceiling speaker from Fohhn available now
Compact system provides a high-quality, powerful solution for
professional fixed installations
Oswestry, UK, 24th February 2009 – Fohhn’s UK distributor, Systems Workshop Distribution, has announced that the manufacturer’s new CS-04 compact ceiling speaker is now shipping. Launched at the recent ISE show in Amsterdam, the passive two-way speaker is the latest addition to Fohhn’s Arc Series of products, designed for use in professional fixed installations.
The CS-04 has a long-excursion 4-inch bass/mid speaker and a coaxial 1-inch neodymium high-frequency driver, giving outstanding speech intelligibility and dynamic music reproduction. A self-resetting polyswitch speaker protection system prevents the high-frequency driver from overloading. The speaker has a frequency range of 70 Hz to 20 kHz and a peak power rating of 120 W, generating a maximum sound pressure level of 108 dB. Broadband sound is dispersed at a radial angle of 90 degrees and sound within the 1-4 kHz range is dispersed evenly at 110 degrees. A specially shaped foam insert ensures maximum linearity of the high frequency sound production for all dispersion angles. A 4-stage selector under the speaker’s front grille gives a choice of low impedance (16 ohms) or 100 volts operation, with three switch settings at 30, 15 and 7.5W. The operating mode can also be selected once the speaker has been mounted.
Enclosed in a flame-resistant steel housing, the CS-04 is particularly suitable for situations where safety is paramount. Its compact dimensions, 196 x 207mm (ceiling hole diameter 168mm), make it ideal for conference rooms, churches, shopping centres, foyers, restaurants and other venues where a powerful, but unobtrusive ceiling-mounted system is required. The speaker is fully compatible with the Fohhn Audio System and can be adapted to the surrounding environment using DSP presets.
For more demanding sound requirements, CS-04 speakers can also be combined with various Fohhn subwoofer models including the AS-10, AS-20, XS-10 and XS-20. This generates a full sound with sufficient bass for a wide range of musical applications. The entire speaker system can be remotely controlled from a central location via Fohhn’s wall-mounted FR10 module, using a simple series of 8 control buttons.
For installation, the CS-04 has three quick mounting claws, a steel eyelet for attaching a safety cable and a detachable 4-pin Phoenix terminal connector with dual configuration, allowing connection to another speaker. The unit is available in white, with optional colours on request.
